Red Hat Satellite

I would really benefit from some training on Satellite.  I am new to the product and am going to have to migrate from Satellite 5 to 6 at a new position I recently took.

Best of luck on the migration. It's a challenge, as many things have changed from 5 to 6.

I would like to see a course on this as well. Thank you.

Although already took a training and passed exam, I would benefit from doing it in my pace and with fully working labs.

One of the reasons we have not built this yet is because it's next to impossible to get access to this tooling unless you pay for it. to get a satellite trial you must contact redhat. They have no up stream project for it either. So for us to offering this training to students, they wouldn't even be able to follow along without having a b2b account with redhat already. We are trying to work with redhat on this but they aren't being very helpful at this time.

Not sure it helps, foreman is the upsteaup of Satellite 6. The component versions are documented in this KB https://access.redhat.com/articles/1343683

Let me know if there's anything I can do to help get a POC lab set up to see if this can move it along.

    Hey guys,

The upstream project for Satellite 6 is Foreman + Katello. Red Hat generally ensure that all of projects have upstream and freely available versions for the community to use and contribute to. It's even possible to create a subscription manifest using your free developer accounts and add those subscriptions to Foreman. For more information, (it is included in the KB article linked below( https://access.redhat.com/articles/1343683 ), but this is the specific link to Katello: https://theforeman.org/plugins/katello/

Even if the course offered by Linux Academy was called "Foreman" instead of Satellite. I think it would still be handy. Foreman does a lot of other things that you guys already have courses for like Puppet and Ansible management.

+1 on calling the course Foreman instead if that would make more sense.. As previously mentioned, Foreman+Katello is the upstream project of Satellite 6.  Thanks for all the great courses!

Q: What open source projects serve as the upstream for Red Hat Satellite 6?
A: Key projects include: Foreman, Puppet, Katello, Pulp, and Candlepin.

    This Q/A is from : https://access.redhat.com/articles/880853

We also use Foreman(with Katello, Pulp, Candlepin, Ansible roles ....) in my work

So I guess now it is possible to have a course about that.

I will be happy to see this course on you list .

BTW, Thank you for all the great courses!

    +1 from me

I recently did the official redhat RH403 "Red hat satellite 6 administration" online video training course and it was in my opinion not such a good experience compared to the the LA courses and at the end i still had a lot of unanswered questions. So if possible by any chance, please create a course about this.

Although satellite is used so much and so big and complex, there is almost no content available for it except from Redhat itself.

    Hello,

Any news about this course ?

Or can we have Foreman+Katello+Pulp+Candlepin... instead of Red Hat Satellite ?
